17TH CENTURY SPANISH FORTIFIED TOWN

Welcome to 17th century St. Augustine during a thriving time when Spain staked their permanent claim and the town bustled with trade and craftsmen, military and devout missionaries.

CLIMB A 17TH CENTURY WATCHTOWER!

Climb 35 feet to the top of our interpretation of a watchtower from the 1600s for a birds-eye view of the Castillo de San Marcos and St. Augustine's bayfront. Pinpoint the historic city's landmarks, new and old, and imagine what Spanish soldiers looking out would have seen and felt!

TAKE PART IN A MUSKET DRILL

Stand tall as you learn to lock, load and fire your 17th century replica musket! Our military gunsmith, who demonstrates musket drills, also repairs and maintains the garrison's guns and weapons, and inspects and tests firearms. And you can join in!

MEET A WORKING BLACKSMITH AT HIS FORGE

Be drawn in by the sound of clanking metal. It's our colonial blacksmith hard at work at the forge! He's reworking old metal into tools, cooking utensils, strap hinges, and nails. And he just might show you a thing or two!
